Nucleus Analytics Private Ltd

  • Nucleus Analytics Private Ltd has been servicing the Indian gems and Industry for quite some time now. Please share with us your experiences and how has the Indian Industry evolved, as today technology such as 3D printing, has become prominent in the country.

  • Today, technology is a part of our daily lives and we all are dependent on it and Indian Jems & Jewellery industry is no stranger to this. The industry is continuously evolving. Today one hardly comes across “touch stone technique” while buying or selling Gold. More and more big and medium jewellery retailers are using XRF to ascertain Gold Karat. XRF is the basis for almost all Gold exchange/recycle businesses in India. Technolgy has made all businesses simpler, faster, reliable and efficient. For a business to survive & grow, use of newer technologies is a must. It helps keep one ahead of competition in terms of quality, costing and distribution. At the back-end, product development cycle is becoming shorter. Technology is there for everyone to take - for good use or otherwise. E.g. in our XRF instruments we are not only able analyse over 30 elemental contents in Gold accurately but also able to measure “undesirable” elements such as Tungsten, Iridium , Osmium, Ruthenium, Cadmium etc simultaneously in few seconds which otherwise would take a few hours to measure using alternate techniques or cannot be measured at all by XRF using older technology.

  • How do you see India as a potential for your products and which are those products of Nucleus Analytics Private Ltd that you see a potential market in the country?

  • X-ray Spectrometers such as our SPECTRO MIDEX and SPECTRO SCOUT are the most popular models which we sell. These products are used to very accurately determine purity of the Gold one is buying or selling. The accuracy is comparable to Fire Assay method. India is one of the largest consumer of Gold, having said that, customer awareness programs by Govt such as BIS Hallmarking, customer demand for quality products in addition to new legislations and new schemes by the govt are the drivers for our business. We are at the moment concentrating on the Assay Centres, Hallmarking Centres, Gold exchange/recycling centres & refineries which is a high end and quality conscious market segment. The most reputed & quality conscious refinery brand has already established several purity verification centres in India where they buy and exchange Gold Jewellery based only on the analysis obtained on SPECTRO MIDEX, they do not use any other technique at these centres. So a business models such as this and CPTC based on BIS model will help as a catalyst to our business.

  • How important are shows and exhibitions for you and do you see business growing after participation in such shows?

  • Over the years shows and exhibitions have lost the importance it used have a few years ago for our kind of business of selling imported analytical instruments. In the past, there were only a few exhibitions but today there are so many shows. A few years ago shows & exhibitions were the only source to get the information, interact with the manufacturer and see the product itself. Today all information related to a product, a company and much more is easily available on the internet. Also there are other avenues available to address a market segment such as magazines, periodicals, internet advertising etc. Therefore, in my opinion, the real need to participate in an exhibition doesn’t exist anymore both for buyers as well as for us. However, the same logic may not apply for Jewellery manufacturers & sellers.
